Dusting this thing off

What it says on the tin


I'm going to start cross-posting from my dreamwidth and wordpress accounts.

And on the writing front, I've been making good progress, nothing super-fast but progress nonetheless and for variety's sake I'm working on a short short, in which the Teutonic Knights survive as a military order (albeit in reduced capacity) and so in 1940 the last of the aging knights take on the Waffen-SS.

The Mighty Battleship

And alas, we have none.

In service that is.

These days, things like submarines, carriers, cruisers (although they may not last either) and destroyers perform the BB's role. Well, that and BB's didn't really fulfill their designer's expectactions, even before the days of subs and aircraft.

But still. . . One misses the days when the massive BB's would plow through the blue waves, massive guns ready to smite any who dared oppose them.

But like the Man-at-arms of days long past, I miss them.

If only the navies of the world had built the super-battleships, then perhaps we would have seen a truly mind-boggling clash of the titans.

Oh well.

. . . And somewhere faraway a ghostly battleship rocks as its main guns fire. One last time.
